BMW Motorrad x Kodlin x Simar

The BMW R18 B Heavy Duty was commissioned by BMW Motorrad Germany in 2022 as an extraordinary one-off that combines the custom bike expertise of Fred and Len Kodlin with the paint art of Simar (Marcel Sinnwell). The aim was to stage the R18 model series in an eye-catching way worldwide - with a premiere in legendary Daytona (Florida) and subsequent presentations in numerous countries around the globe. It stands for a contemporary custom culture in which craftsmanship, creativity and design vision merge into an expressive overall image.

The paintwork does not follow a static concept, but instead unfolds a flowing composition: strong streams of red, magenta, orange and turquoise combine on a deep turquoise base - like colors that are swirled together and set in motion until new nuances emerge. This visual interplay brings the shapes of the bike to life and makes their form a fluid part of the overall expression.

COLOR AS A STYLISTIC DEVICE

Their expressive colors are deliberately chosen. For the premiere in the „Sunshine State“ of Florida, the surface needed to shine, stand out and capture the energy of the surroundings - a clear statement in a scene where character and individuality are expressed through color. This is the essence of this project: Color. Energy. Identity. - three elements that speak a common language here, combining BMW's classic heritage with a contemporary attitude.
